Author’s Note

As in all my writings, the use of the word he is general, neutral and non-sexist. The following words are used mostly in reference to the peoples of the world in a general sense, rather than to a particular set of people: we, you, your, they, them, us and our. The word church is used to refer to any or all houses of worship or organizations, with no particular attachment to any one religion. Similarly, the word priest is used to refer to the religious leaders of any religion, not a particular one. There is no intention herein to disparage anyone or any particular body of belief or faith, or to put one above another, for social dilemmas are not limited to any single set of people. Any slight perceived by anyone is indeed deeply regrettable, even though it is unintentional. I see no purpose that can be advanced by being deliberately mean or offensive. The ancient law of reciprocity is in all religions—I believe firmly in this law, above all others espoused. As a writer, I feel compelled to write as I do.
